Twice winner of the Road Race World Championship (1983 and 1989) and three times winner of the Tour de France (1986, 1989, and 1990), Greg LeMond is considered by many to be the greatest American cyclist of all time.

His 1989 Tour de France win was truly epic. Taking the Tour on the last stage, improbably erasing a 50-second deficit to the great French racer Laurent Fignon, ‘The Professor’, in just a 25km time trial, taking the yellow jersey by eight seconds, which was the narrowest Tour victory ever and setting a record for fastest time trial in Tour history. LeMond won the 1989 world champion road title a few weeks after that.
